By accessing or using alfie ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service.

2. Description of Service

alfie provides privacy-aware audio transcription services, including:

• Audio transcription using AI models
• Multilingual support (English, Chinese, Spanish, Japanese, German, French, Italian, Dutch)
• AI-powered chat and insights (powered by OpenAI and DeepSeek)
• Speaker recognition and timestamps
• Export to .txt, .srt, .vtt formats

3. User Accounts

Account Creation

• You must create an account to use our Service
• You must provide accurate and complete information
• You are responsible for maintaining account security
• One account per person or business entity

Account Responsibility

• You are responsible for all activities under your account
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
• We are not liable for losses due to unauthorized access

4. Subscription Plans & Billing

Free Tier

• 30 minutes of transcription per month
• All core features included
• Upload up to 1 hour per file
• Subject to fair use policies

Pro Subscription

• $14/month (or $9/month if billed annually) for 600 minutes of monthly transcription
• Upload up to 4 hours per file
• Batch transcription up to 3 files at once
• Automatic monthly billing
• Cancel anytime with effect at end of billing period
• No refunds for partial months

Max Subscription

• $29/month (or $19/month if billed annually) for 3000 minutes of monthly transcription
• Upload up to 6 hours per file
• Batch transcription up to 10 files at once
• Priority Processing for faster turnaround
• Priority support
• All PRO features included
• Automatic monthly billing
• Cancel anytime with effect at end of billing period
• No refunds for partial months

Payment Terms

• Payments processed through Stripe
• All fees are in USD and non-refundable
• Price changes require 30 days notice
• Failed payments may result in service suspension

5. Acceptable Use Policy

Permitted Uses

• Academic research and transcription
• Business meeting and interview transcription
• Journalism and media transcription
• Personal audio transcription
• Professional development and documentation

Prohibited Uses

• Uploading audio without proper consent from all parties
• Processing illegal, harmful, or inappropriate content
• Attempting to reverse engineer our transcription models
• Sharing account credentials with others
• Using the service for competitive intelligence
• Automated or bulk uploading beyond normal use

6. Content & Data

Your Content

• You retain ownership of your uploaded audio recordings
• You grant us license to process and transcribe your content
• You are responsible for obtaining necessary consents
• You warrant that your content doesn't violate any laws

Our Content

• AI-generated transcriptions belong to you
• Our technology and algorithms remain our property
• You may export your data at any time

7. Privacy & Recording Consent

Important: You are solely responsible for ensuring you have proper consent to record and analyze all participants in your calls.

• Check your local and applicable laws regarding call recording
• Obtain explicit consent from all call participants
• alfie is not responsible for consent compliance
• You indemnify us against any consent-related claims

8. Service Availability

• We strive for 99.9% uptime but don't guarantee it
• Planned maintenance will be announced in advance
• Emergency maintenance may occur without notice
• Third-party service dependencies may affect availability

9. Intellectual Property

• alfie and its technology are protected by intellectual property laws
• You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works
• Our trademarks and branding remain our property
• Respect third-party intellectual property rights

10. Disclaimers & Limitations

• Service provided "as is" without warranties
• AI insights are for guidance only, not guarantees
• Transcription accuracy may vary
• No guarantee of business results or performance

Limitation of Liability

• Our liability is limited to the amount you paid us
• We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages
• Business losses and lost profits are excluded

11. Termination

By You

• Cancel your subscription anytime
• Delete your account through settings
• Download your data before deletion

By Us

• We may suspend accounts for terms violations
• 30 days notice for service discontinuation
• Immediate termination for serious violations

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Delaware, United States. Any disputes will be resolved in Delaware courts.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be notified via email.
